Many people believe that building a house for themselves is very expensive and they spend much of their time in rented spaces, which is in the end more expensive that having your own space. We usually leave that part of building personal homes to the rich, while in the actual sense, anyone can have their own houses if they want to. There are different kinds of houses that you can build depending on your financial situation. For the rich, you can go for the expensive houses that have perfect finishings and for the poor or middle income earners, you can go for what you can afford. You can for instance build a small house and finish it up with steel sheeting. I say steel sheeting because steel sheeting prices are the lowest in the country at the moment for those who are building. You need not to save for a long time in order to get a good house for yourself because you can get something with the little that you have. Just talk to a construction company and you will see I was right. |

With technology registrations for every known profession to man is now implemented. According to Leah this is a good thing since it provides for a centralized area to go to if someone is in need of the services of a professional. Take for instance if someone is in need of electricians in basingstoke then checking out the national registry is the best course of action unless of course you have a friend who knows a friend who knows an electrician. Missy piped in that word of mouth is still the best advertising and marketing there is and it is also the best way to get reliable service. I totally agree with Missy on this one as I have proven this to work out. When I was looking for a computer technician to connect all four computers in the house I was referred to a friend of Annie's whose doing part time house calls on weekends. True to her word Luke was amazing and super-fast and his service fee was very minimal considering the amount of work done to get all four computers hooked up. |

I love working on my home, but I can only afford to do one job at a time due to money constraints - the last being the installation of baserails to my stairs. The next thing I definitely want to change about my house is my kitchen. If I had the money, I would definitely put an addition to my kitchen in order to expand it. I would rip out all of the linoleum floors and replace them with hardwood flooring. I would take out all of the cabinets, counters, and appliances. Instead, I would get all new, darker cabinets that have more space, stainless steel appliances, and granite countertops. I feel like darker colors would be the best in my kitchen, because the playroom next to it is all muted colors. I'm thinking a color scheme of chocolate brown and darker greens. I also would really love to put an island with bar stools in the middle of my kitchen. They look really nice in homes I've seen, and I feel like it would open up the space so much more. I think I would also take out part of the wall and install a larger window overlooking the backyard, with some window seating underneath it, and get rid of the wall dividing the kitchen and the dining room. |

It seems the current trend amongst many people is to try and build houses that are completely "off the grid" in terms of energy dependency. But can a house live completely off the grid using only solar panel technology? The answer is yes, and has been demonstrated to work with a number of self-build houses generating MORE electricity than they need. These houses offer a new possibility too - building houses anywhere, since there are no power lines needed. Our company’s biggest project has finally ended and we were all hyped after the acceptance document has been signed by the client that none of us wanted to go home yet that’s why our boss decided to treat everyone for a round of drinks at a local pub. The energy in the air was high because everybody has put in a lot of hard work just so we will be able to meet the deadline. I myself survived months on three to four hour sleep just so I could work more hours in the office. When we arrived, we all settled ourselves in the bar and seat on chic but apparently cheap bar stools. We are all regulars there hence, we are all friends with the owner, Sparky. He was the one who told us the story of the stools and how he was able to acquire them for almost a fraction of the price by simply winning a staring contest. We all thought the story was hilarious but none of us actually believed it was true. |

Glass demijohns and carboys are very attractive items. These are essentially glass containers which were originally covered in a wicker basket.
Glass demijohns or carboys were designed to carry all forms of liquid, including wine, beer, olive oil and cider. They can still be found in a range of different coloured glass. Green glass demijohns are very pretty, and the more unusual amber or burnt orange coloured demijohns are extremely beautiful.
Today, many demijohns have lost their wicker covers, due to age, and this leaves the lovely glass demijohn bottles. These look great as interior design pieces.
I have a good collection of these and they look wonderful on my window sill, where the light can shine though the various coloured glass.

Working as a kitchen fitter, I spend most of my time in kitchens dreaming up my own personal DIY projects. My dream DIY job is to make over my fireplace! My fireplace is a gas unit in the corner of my living room, which is actually on a false wall. I plan on knocking down the top half of the false wall in order to create a custom nook to house the flat screen TV. This is a slightly intimidating DIY because it will involve cutting through stud beams and moving electrical wires which are running behind this wall. Additionally I would like to cover the fireplace wall with beautiful rustic stone tile, and add a decorative mantle. For the final touch I plan on replacing the cheap looking fake logs with a more modern and abstract stone fireplace insert. All of these changes will turn the fireplace into the focal point of the room, and it will be much more fitting with the mid-century modern décor of the living room. |
